n 1992 just out of high school Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology with Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage in Alaska. Bossard launched her professional career in the field of commercial fish worker in 1999. Bossard began working at the vessel F/V Sunset which was a 65' halibut schooner and was later converted into a salmon tender for Murat Aritan. She worked as a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been is married to Aritan and they've joined together to assert their rights to the industry. The two are proponents of preserving sustainable and renewable marine resources. Otolith is an independent wholesale distributor of seafood founded within Philadelphia in 2007, by a now-mother of two kids, Bella age 3 and Andre one year old. She and her husband are separated by 5 months and more for her to be focused on her goals in terms of finances and her environmental goals. Bossard and her children Andre 10 and Isabella 12 each year return in Southeast Alaska as deckhands to collect wild salmon in the summer. Utilizing a troller of 42 inches Bossards are able to catch salmon using hooks. They work in conjunction with Aritan at a local processing plant for two weeks.
